Cockroach eggs are enclosed in a small protective capsule called an ootheca rather than being laid individually. The egg case is oval or purse-shaped, about 5–10 mm long, and usually light to dark brown in color with slight ridges. Each capsule can contain multiple eggs inside. Species like the German Cockroach often carry the egg case until it is ready to hatch, while others hide it in cracks, cabinets, or behind appliances.
